The Conklin Pen Company was established in 1898 in Toledo, Ohio, USA, and is regarded as one of the most significant and innovative manufacturers from the golden era of fountain pens. Based on the original designs of earlier models, all Conklin pens are hand manufactured by artisans dedicated to producing writing instruments worthy of their legendary name and are highly valued by collectors and pen enthusiasts throughout the world.
Thanks to Roy Conklin, owner and inventor, the fountain pen was ultimately made more practical and convenient for the public with his patented invention of the Crescent Filler fountain pen. The Crescent Filler has a piece of metal shaped like a crescent moon, that extends from the side of the pen and wa the key to a simple and easy one-handed way to self-fill the fountain pen with ink. The simple depression of the crescent engages the internal pressure bar to collapse the built-in rubber sac. Releasing the crescent allows incoming ink to now fill the sac.
In addition to their fountain pens, Conklin also makes matching rollerball and ballpoint pens.
